Victor Valley is in southwest California at the southern edge of the Mojave Desert and 84 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Towns in this area of San Bernardino Counties High Desert include Adelanto, Apple Valley, Hesperia and Victorville.
Victorville, the largest town in Victor Valley, was founded in 1895 and originally named Victor after California Southern Railroad General Manager Jacob Nash Victor. In 1901, postal workers changed the name to Victorville to avoid confusion with the town of Victor, Colorado. The city was incorporated in 1962.
